A note from Rob Whiting, CEO & co-founder of Boom:
In the three years since we launched Boom, our company, team, and product offering have grown tremendously.
Like many companies founded in 2020, we wanted to alleviate issues that the pandemic brought to light or worsened. In the case of Boom, my family members endured housing instability due to business closures during the pandemic. In helping them navigate that uncertainty, I saw the struggles many renters faced in securing housing.
When I launched Boom, the only focus was credit building for renters. As a D2C company, we built and refined the Boom app to fit their needs. Everything from our branding to our customer support team to the app itself was optimized to serve them. Taking this time to solely focus on renters was an important time for our company—we implemented first-hand feedback, spent countless hours formatting (and reformatting) Metro 2 furnishment files, experimented with various components of the app’s UX, and handled all disputes that came up. The end result? A product that renters love—we’re very proud of our 4.6 rating on Apple/Google Play stores—and a product that we feel great about. We’ve helped thousands of people build credit with their rent payments, and we’re nowhere near stopping.
After that initial launch and the validation from renters that we had built something great, we debuted BoomReport, a B2B rent reporting service offered directly to property managers and owners to implement rent reporting at scale for their entire portfolio. We’ve launched many property management software integrations, released an embedded rent reporting offering, partnered with some of the biggest names in SFR, multifamily, and manufactured housing, and built an all-in-one dashboard for property managers to report, review, and track rent payment furnishment.
As we think about our product roadmap and define this next chapter for Boom, we are committed to building out our B2B SaaS offering with products that alleviate property managers’ workloads while streamlining the success of their businesses. In recent months, it became clear to us that we had outgrown our original branding and it was time for a change.
As we set out to plan our rebrand and design our new website, our goals were simple:
- Create a brand that’s product-centric: We believe that our strongest differentiator in the marketplace is our tech and we wanted it to be at the forefront of our new website. On the new site, you’ll find screenshots and demos from the Boom Platform and the Boom app—what you see is what you (and your renters) get.
- Establish continuity between our website UX and product UX: Our extremely talented product designers who helped build the Boom Platform also designed our new website. We wanted to create a website that’s a reflection of our product, thoughtfully built with a seamless user interface.
- Set the stage for what’s next: We have an exciting product launch right around the corner, and we want to make the Boom Platform’s capabilities very clear. We’re more than a solution for rent reporting. We’re building a suite of other financial services across the renter lifecycle.
After a few long months of designing and developing, we’re excited to introduce this next chapter for Boom. Check out our full redesign at https://www.boompay.app/.
